Abstract (German)

Das Hauptziel vorliegender Dissertation war die Erhebung des sozioökonomischen Status und dessen Einzelvariablen, um einen möglichen Einfluss auf die Krankheitsschwere bei kritisch kranken Patienten zu untersuchen. Weiterhin sollte ein Zusammenhang zwischen dem sozioökonomischen Status und dem Maß der Zuwendung von Angehörigen und Familienmitgliedern untersucht werden. Eine differenzierte geschlechtsspezifische Betrachtung der Ergebnisse sollte ebenfalls vorgenommen werden, um zu untersuchen, ob die Effekte des SES auf die Gesundheit bei Männern und Frauen gleich stark ausgeprägt sind.
Zu diesem Zwecke wurde in der ECSSTASI Studie (EConomic and Social STAtuS in Intensive Care Patients), welche zwischen Oktober 2009 und September 2010 durchgeführt wurde, der sozioökonomische Status, sowie die soziale Herkunft und der chronische Gesundheitszustand der Patienten auf der operativen Intensivstation untersucht.

The main objective of this thesis was a survey of the socio-economic status and the individual variables to investigate a possible influence on disease severity in critically ill patients. Translation of the abstract (English)

The main objective of this thesis was a survey of the socio-economic status and the individual variables to investigate a possible influence on disease severity in critically ill patients. Furthermore, a relationship between socioeconomic status and the amount of the care of next-of-kin and family members should be investigated. A differentiated gender analysis of the results should also be performed to investigate whether the effects of SES on health in both men and women are equally strong.
For this purpose the ECSSTASI study was conducted (Economic and Social Status in Intensive Care Patients) between October 2009 and September 2010, to examine the socio-economic status, the social origins and chronic health status of the patients on the surgical intensive care unit.
