Abstract

PTEN and β-catenin mutations constitute the predominant genetic alterations in endometrioid carcinomas of the endometrium. PTEN encodes a dual-specificity phosphatase with lipid phosphatase and protein tyrosine phosphatase activities that regulate both apoptosis and interactions with the extracellular matrix.
