Abstract (German)

Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit den Daten aller Patienten, die im Zeitraum von 2002 bis 2012 in der Klinik und Poliklinik für Neurochirurgie am Uniklinikum Regensburg aufgrund eines Hydrozephalus konsekutiv einen ventrikuloperitonealen Shunt erhielten. Die Daten von 461 Patienten gingen in die Auswertung ein.

Im Rahmen einer retrospektiven Untersuchung wurden demographische und klinische Daten, Indikationen, Operationsverfahren und Komplikationen erfasst, um mögliche Prädiktoren für das postoperative Outcome der Patienten festzustellen.
Besonderes Augenmerk wurde hierbei auf die Ermittlung von potentiellen Einflussfaktoren hinsichtlich der Komplikationen Dysfunktion, Fehllage und Infektion gerichtet.

Die Revisions-/Komplikationsrate lag insgesamt bei 31,7%, wovon 44,1% auf Dysfunktionen, 25,5% auf Fehllagen und 30,7% au Infektionen entfielen.

In dieser Studie präsentierte sich vor allem ein erhöhter Body Mass Index als korrelierender Parameter zum Auftreten postoperativer Komplikationen.

Translation of the abstract (English)

The present paper deals with the data of all patients who received a ventriculoperitoneal shunt in the clinic and polyclinic for neurosurgery at the University Hospital of Regensburg in the period from 2002 to 2012 due to a hydrocephalus. The data from 461 patients were included in the evaluation.

In a retrospective study demographic and clinical data, indications, surgical procedures and complications were recorded to identify potential predictors of postoperative outcome.
Special attention was paid to the identification of potential factors of influence with regard to the complications of dysfunction, malposition and infection.

The overall rate of revision / complication was 31.7%, of which 44.1% were due to dysfunction, 25.5% to failure, and 30.7% to infections.

In this study, an increased body mass index was presented as a correlating parameter to the occurrence of postoperative complications.
