Decarboxylative reactions with and without light – a comparison

Abstract

Carboxylic acids gain more and more in importance as versatile and renewable starting materials for the formation of platform molecules or high-value chemicals. Many decarboxylative reactions using metal- or photoredox catalysis have been reported during the last years. Within this review, we give a general overview on decarboxylative reactions, we compare different approaches for similar reactions and examine their advantages and disadvantatages
