Zusammenfassung
Although the number of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) installations is constantly increasing, it is still difficult to perform MR examinations in an emergency situation outside regular operating hours. The high demand for well-trained medical personnel as well as logistic difficulties and the limited compliance and monitoring of severely ill patients are the most common reasons for the limited implementation of MRI in emergency diagnostics. This review article describes and discusses the most important indications for an emergency MRI.
