Infusion line extensions are often used to alleviate drug applications or small volumes of highly potent drugs with syringe drivers. The following case-report shows that these extensions have the potential risk of dangerous pharmacological dead-spaces. In particular flushing of the extensions filled with potent drugs may lead to life threatening complications.
