Zusammenfassung
Radiotherapy plays an important role in the multidisciplinary therapy of malignant cutaneous melanoma. Radiotherapy can provide long-term local control for patients with inoperable tumors or microscopic/macroscopic residual disease after surgical resection. In addition postoperative radiotherapy of regional lymph nodes reduces the risk of lymphatic recurrence. In palliative care radiotherapy decreases the symptoms caused by metastases and thus improves the quality of life of patients.
