Zusammenfassung
In the recent years there-has been increasing interest in herbal therapy including its use for treatment of dermatologic disorders. In Germany, a regulatory authority known as "Commission E" performed an extensive review of common phytotherapeutic (1987-1995), agents indicating quality of evidence, clinical efficacy and therapeutic usefulness producing a "positive monograph" indicating agents supported by evidence and likely to be useful. This article explores the therapeutic use of several of these and other currently popular plants suitable for dermatologic indications; therapeutic hints including phytotherapeutic products and formulations are given and side effects, in particular toxic and allergic skin reactions, are discussed.
