The crystal structure was obtained from low temperature single crystal X-ray data (P2(1)/a, Z=2, a=18.483(5) angstrom, b=13.240(2) angstrom, c = 22.919(5) angstrom; beta=103.65(3)degrees). The structure is built from previously unknown catena-hexaphenyltristannandiide anions, Sn(3)ph(6)(2-), isolated tetraamminelithium complexes, and novel {[Li(NH3)(4)](2)[18-crown-6]}(2+) cations. In the latter divalent cation, two tetraamminelithium complexes coordinate to both sides of the crown ether via hydrogen bonds.
