Die (beta/alpha)8-barrel Faltung besteht auf den ersten Blick aus einer einzigen Domäne. Es gibt jedoch Hinweise, dass dieser Faltungstyp aus zwei (beta/alpha)4-halbbarrel entstanden ist. Translation of the abstract (English)

At first view the (beta/alpha)8-barrel fold consists of a single domain. But there are several hints that this fold evolved from two halfbarrels. The N- and C-terminal halves of the Imidazolglycerolphosphatsynthase (HisF) from Thermotoga maritima, namely HisF_N [(beta/alpha)1-4] and HisF_C [(beta/alpha)5-8], were expressed heterologously in E. coli and purified with an optimized protocol. ...
