Abstract

In DMSO solution, anthralin and its C-10 monosubstituted derivatives reduce nitroxides to the corresponding hydroxylamine derivatives, which are not further transformed. The reaction rate depends on the solvent used, the nitroxide, and the structure of the reducer.
