While Thomas Aquinas interprets 2 Corinthians 3 :18 mainly on the noetic level, Eckhart links it to the question of Johannine begetting (John 1 :12-13). This article unfolds the exegetical, theological and philosophical gesture by which Meister Eckhart links these two modes of assimilation, or even identification, with God, which belong to different textual corpora, as well as theological visions, by showing that they belong to the same model of production through the union in act of the active and passive correlatives. He gives this model of identity production a paradigmatic function on the hermeneutical level, because it enters into the exegesis of numerous biblical verses, and on the philosophical level, insofar as it allows us to distinguish two meanings of being, substantial and operative.
