Relatives of problematic and pathological gamblers suffer from social, psychological, and economical stresses created by the gambling habits of those affected. Therefore, they are in urgent need of suitable assistance. For this reason, the program Easement Training for People Affiliated with Problematic and Pathological Gamblers - Psycho-Educational (ETAPPE) was developed as a manualized program for groups. In this study, the sustainability of the program's positive effects were compiled. The participants were asked, in written form, about their self-assessment of psychological distress and stress three months after the completion of the program. The response rate was 90.2%. Considering the explorative character of the study, there are positive findings: The reduction of psychological distress, achieved through participation in ETAPPE, persists; chronic stress is further reduced. It is, therefore, worthwhile to pursue this approach for the care of people affiliated with problematic or pathological gamblers.
