This article presents a seminar concept designed to promote students' ability to explain as an aspect of their professional competence. The seminars were carried out as part of the project FALKE1 at the University of Regensburg. The concept includes: discussing criteria of good explanations, preparing an explanation, being filmedwhile explaining, reflecting the explanation based on
multi-perspective feedback, and editing the explanation. Students’ evaluation and lecturers’ reflections show that the seminar concept is considered to be appropriate to promote explanatory competence.
