Das Lehrkonzept des Flipped Classroom (FC) gewann im letzten Jahrzehnt vor allem im Be-reich der Hochschullehre zunehmend an Aufmerksamkeit. Trotz einiger wissenschaftlicher Publikationen, welche die Vorteile des FC gegenüber traditioneller Lehre hervorheben, wird im akademischen Kontext vor allem in Veranstaltungen mit vielen Teilnehmenden weiterhin auf das Konzept einer traditionellen Vorlesung gesetzt. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit war es, die Wahrnehmung der Studierenden hinsichtlich des FC mit der eines traditionellen Vorlesungs-formates bezüglich der Vorbereitung, des Lernerfolges, des Arbeitsaufwandes, der Flexibilität, des kollaborativen Lernens und der Lehrperson zu vergleichen. Zusätzlich wurden motivatio-nale Regulationsstile hinsichtlich des Lernens im Studium erhoben, um mögliche Zusammen-hänge zur Einschätzung des FC zu überprüfen. Dazu wurden im Rahmen einer Vorlesungsver-anstaltung in einem quasi-experimentellen Design 67 Studierende im Lehramtsstudium sowohl im Format des FC als auch im Format der traditionellen Vorlesung durch dieselbe Lehrperson unterrichtet. Anschließend wurden die Studierenden im Rahmen einer Lehrevaluation mittels eines eigens entwickelten Fragebogens darum gebeten, verschiedene Komponenten der Lehre für den FC und die traditionelle Lehre zu bewerten. Die Ergebnisse gaben Aufschluss darüber, dass vor allem die Vorbereitungsphase und das kollaborative Lernen in einem FC von den Stu-dierenden signifikant besser bewertet werden als in einer traditionellen Vorlesung. Zusammen-hänge zwischen der Vorbereitungsphase und dem kollaborativen Lernen im FC und intrinsi-schen Regulationsstilen konnten festgestellt werden. Implikationen für Forschung und Praxis werden im Anschluss diskutiert.

The flipped classroom (FC) approach has gained increasing attention in the last decade, espe-cially in the context of higher education. Despite some scientific publications that emphasize the advantages of the FC compared to traditional methods, the concept of a traditional lecture is still widely spread in the academic context, especially in courses with many participants. The aim of the present study was to compare students’ perception of the FC with that of a traditional lecture in terms of preparation, learning success, workload, flexibility, collaborative learning and the role of the lecturer. In addition, motivational regulation styles with regard to learning during the course were surveyed in order to examine possible connections to the assessment of the FC. For this purpose, 67 students were taught both in a FC and a traditional lecture by the same lecturer as part of a lecture within a teacher training program in a quasi-experimental design. As part of a course evaluation, they were asked to rate various components of teaching for the FC and the traditional lecture using a questionnaire developed as a part of this work. The results indicated, that the preparatory phase and the collaborative learning in a FC in par-ticular are rated significantly higher by the students than in a traditional lecture. Correlations between the preparatory phase and collaborative learning within the FC and intrinsic motiva-tional regulation styles could be found. Implications for further research and the application of the FC in higher education are discussed.
